Fluent Academy — Building a High-Converting Online Language School Website

Fluent Academy is a Paris-based language school founded by Lily, a sociolinguist, published author (Le FLE Côté Pro), and certified DELF/DALF examiner. The academy offers private and group French classes, Business French, DELF exam preparation, and Business English — taught live over Zoom by native, certified instructors to an international student base spanning Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.

As the school scaled beyond one-on-one word-of-mouth referrals, Lily needed a digital presence that could do what a great teacher does in the classroom: build trust quickly, explain a fairly complex course catalog simply, and turn curious visitors into enrolled students — without adding friction to the booking process.

The Challenge

Language schools compete in a crowded, trust-driven market. Prospective students are comparing multiple platforms, unsure of their level, worried about wasting money on the wrong class, and often deciding in a single visit. Fluent Academy needed a website that could:

  • Present a genuinely complex catalog (private classes, group classes, Business French, Business English, DELF prep) in a way that doesn’t overwhelm first-time visitors
  • Build immediate credibility around the founder’s expertise and the teaching team
  • Make it effortless to browse live course cohorts, see schedules and pricing, and enroll
  • Surface social proof at scale — dozens of authentic testimonials — without turning the page into a wall of text
  • Support multi-currency, multi-region visitors given the school’s international student base
  • Be built on a stack the client’s team could manage and update independently going forward

Our Approach

Stepforadder partnered with Fluent Academy to design and build a website that pairs a warm, editorial feel with the structure and clarity of a modern EdTech product. Key elements of the build:

  • Conversion-focused homepage architecture — a clear hero pathway that immediately splits visitors into “Learn French” and “Learn English,” followed by founder/team credibility, live course listings, FAQs, and testimonials in a logical trust-building sequence
  • Structured course catalog — each class (Group, Private, Business French, DELF Prep) presented as its own bookable product, complete with schedule, price, and lesson count, so students can self-select the right fit before ever contacting the school
  • Testimonial-rich social proof section — a rotating showcase of real student reviews, positioned right after the “why us” content to reinforce credibility at the exact moment prospects are deciding
  • FAQ-driven objection handling — addressing the real hesitations language learners have (placement level, missed classes, refund policy, scheduling conflicts) directly on-page to reduce pre-sale support inquiries
  • Multi-currency, multi-region support — built to serve Fluent Academy’s genuinely international audience across dozens of countries and currencies
  • WordPress + Elementor build — a flexible, scalable CMS foundation the Fluent Academy team can use to launch new cohorts, update pricing, and publish blog content without developer support
  • On-page SEO foundations — clean metadata, descriptive URLs, and content structure across course and landing pages to support long-term organic visibility for high-intent search terms like “learn French online” and “French classes near me”

The Result

The finished site gives Fluent Academy a digital front door that matches the quality of its teaching: warm and personal, yet structured enough to guide a first-time visitor from “just browsing” to “enrolled” in a single session. Course cohorts, schedules, and pricing are now fully self-serve, testimonials do the selling before the sales team has to, and the CMS foundation means Fluent Academy can keep launching new classes and content independently.
