All you need to know about bras
Soko isn’t selling bras. It’s selling permission to be comfortable.
While most lingerie brands built their entire identity around sex appeal, Soko flipped the script: “Other bra brands keep telling you to be sexy. We’re here to remind you to just be you.” Every product: The Bliss, The Romance, The Chill: is wireless, built around a signature supportive band, and designed for real women living real days, not photoshoots.
It’s a great product with a genuinely differentiated story. The challenge was making sure that story converted.
The Challenge
A strong brand voice and a loyal “sokommunity” aren’t enough on their own in a crowded, heavily-SEO’d, heavily-advertised category like intimates. Soko needed:
- A storefront experience that matched the warmth and confidence of the brand, not a generic Shopify template
- A way to educate first-time buyers (bra sizing is notoriously confusing) without losing them before checkout
- Sustainable organic visibility in a space dominated by big-budget lingerie players
- A performance marketing engine that could scale without inflating acquisition costs
Soko came to Stepforadder needing all three pillars solved together: design, SEO, and paid: rather than three separate vendors pulling the brand in three directions. The brief was simple to say and hard to execute: make the site as comfortable to shop as the product is to wear, and make sure the right people find it.
What We Did
Design & Development We rebuilt the shopping experience around Soko’s actual differentiator — comfort — instead of the industry-standard glamour-shot template. Product pages were restructured to sell the feeling (no wires, no digging, no adjusting all day) alongside the fit, with the “Bra School” content woven directly into the buying journey so first-time visitors could size themselves confidently instead of bouncing to Google mid-checkout. The Shopify build was optimized for mobile-first browsing, since intimates shopping skews heavily toward quick, private, on-phone sessions rather than desktop research.
SEO We treated Soko’s comfort-first positioning as an SEO asset, not just a brand line. Product and category pages were structured around how real customers actually search — “wireless bra Malaysia,” “comfortable everyday bra,” “bra without underwire” — rather than the generic category terms every competitor was already fighting over. The “Bra School” hub was expanded and technically optimized to capture top-of-funnel, pre-purchase searches (sizing, when to replace a bra, bra care), turning an educational side-page into a genuine organic traffic driver and trust-builder before the sale.
Performance Marketing Paid creative leaned directly into Soko’s “just be you” message instead of the industry-default glamour angle — a deliberate point of difference in ad libraries saturated with the same three or four lingerie ad formats. We built out retargeting flows for size-hesitant abandoners (a major drop-off point in this category), and supported promotional pushes like the multi-bra bundle offers with dedicated landing experiences instead of sending paid traffic straight to a generic collection page.
The Results
We’re still pulling together the final performance numbers with Soko, and we’ll add them here soon. What’s already clear is the difference in how the site feels to shop: it’s easier to find the right bra, easier to trust the fit, and easier to check out — matching the comfort of the product with the comfort of the buying experience.
Why It Worked
Soko already had the hardest part figured out: a genuine point of view. Our job was to remove every point of friction between that story and a customer clicking “add to cart” — and to make sure the right customers were finding that story in the first place.
